Our History

The “Gabi Artwork model scenery studio” is a small family-run manufacturer of handcrafted model railway accessories based in Hungary. The company was founded in 2023 by Gábor Szabó, a qualified mechanical engineer, and the idea of its creation dates back a long time...

When I was a child, my uncle, who collected H0 scale model trains, infected me with a fascination for railways. I loved playing with model trains, which is a truly creative game to this day. After all, railway tracks run through different environments in real life, starting from a city street, between urban buildings, or through a landscape full of mountains, surrounded by various trees. I loved creating all these different landscape elements in small scale, to make the little toy train going round and round as lifelike as possible. The fascination with the model railway hobby has stayed with me throughout my school years, and the love has only grown over the years.

The model tree creation started with a video I found online about 10 years ago. The video showed how to make model conifer-trees for a 1:87 scale model railway. It inspired me and I also tried to create the little tree, which turned out quite well. After the first conifer-tree was created, many experiments followed, because I wanted to make the tree even more lifelike.

During these successive tries, I watched a lot of videos on the internet and read many articles on various forums and websites. Among the materials were reports from modelers who had painted lifelike, larger scale planes, tanks and various vehicles, so over the years I have mastered the skills of modelling and airbrush painting techniques. By learning techniques of railway modelling and model making, I think I have managed to create a true to life, scaled down replica of the real conifer-trees.

I posted my life-like conifer-trees on an online railway modelling group, where they became very popular and I received inquiries about making them to order. After a little market research, I noticed that there are few realistic model conifer-trees and accessories on the market. Seeing the business opportunity, I created our family manufactory for model railway accessories.

All our products are handmade with great care and we use the best quality ingredients. Our goal is to create high quality, durable and lifelike model products for railway modeling and modeling enthusiasts, so that they can create the most realistic landscape on the model train-layout or diorama.

Currently we are producing 1:87-H0 scale model trees and accessories, but we are planning to add other types of model railway accessories to our product range. Our long-term goals include the production of products in additional scales (e.g: 1:120-TT, 1:32-Spur0). Later on we would like to work on the realisation of model railway-layout and dioramas according to the clients’ individual ideas.
